On November 27, Hebei province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group Co. announced that the low carbon cold rolled and hot dip galvanized (HDG) products of its subsidiary Tangshan Iron and Steel Co. (Tangsteel) have received certification from the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), allowing Tangsteel to export the products in question to Malaysia.
The Malaysian government issued new regulations earlier this year requiring foreign products in certain sectors, including steel and oil, to hold SIRIM certification before being allowed to enter Malaysia.
